What goes into a taxi booking platform
A taxi platform has three parts that share one backend:
- Rider side - SMS OTP login, saved places, fare estimate before booking, vehicle types (auto, hatchback, sedan, SUV), scheduled and outstation rides, and invoices by email.
- Driver side - KYC document upload (licence, RC, insurance), daily earnings, incentives and payout requests.
- Operations side - dispatch rules (nearest driver, priority drivers), cancellation policies, commission settings and city-wise reports.
Common integrations in India include Google Maps Platform for maps, routes and distance, Razorpay or Cashfree for UPI and card payments, an SMS gateway for OTP, and the WhatsApp Business API for booking confirmations. For rider safety we design with SOS alerts, trip sharing, masked calling between rider and driver, and driver verification in mind.
