Search for "web development company in Jaipur" and you will find hundreds of options - from one-person freelancers to large IT firms. Prices range from ₹3,000 to several lakhs, and almost everyone claims to be "the best". So how do you choose a company that will actually deliver a website that brings you business?
This checklist comes from the questions we hear most often from business owners who have been burned before: projects that never finished, websites that vanished when a freelancer stopped answering, or sites that looked fine but never brought a single enquiry. Use it before you pay any advance.
1. Do they have a real, visitable office?
A physical office is not everything, but it is a strong signal of commitment. Check the address on Google Maps, look at the photos on their Google Business Profile, and ask if you can visit. Be careful with companies that show multiple "offices" in big cities but cannot tell you who works at each one.
2. Is the team in-house?
Ask directly: "Who will design and build my website, and are they your employees?" Many agencies sell the project and pass it to a freelancer. That is not always bad, but you should know - because if the freelancer disappears, your project stalls.
3. Can they show live websites similar to yours?
Screenshots are easy to fake. Ask for live links to websites they built for businesses in your industry, open them on your phone, and check how fast they load. If possible, call one of those clients.
4. Are their Google reviews real and recent?
Read the reviews, not just the star rating. Real reviews mention specific details - the project, the people, what happened after launch. Check that reviews are spread across time, and look at how the company replies to criticism.
5. Do they publish prices or give a written quote?
A trustworthy company can tell you a starting price range quickly and will give you a written, itemised quote before work starts. Be wary of vague verbal quotes and of extremely low prices - a ₹3,000 website is usually a template with your logo, no SEO setup and no support, and many businesses end up paying again to rebuild it within a year.
For reference, here are typical website development prices in Jaipur:
- Business website, up to 5 pages: ₹18,000 – ₹25,000
- Business website, 10+ pages with blog and SEO setup: ₹35,000 – ₹55,000
- E-commerce store: ₹45,000 – ₹90,000
- Custom web application: ₹80,000 – ₹2,50,000
All prices are GST extra.
6. Who will own the domain, website and code?
This is the most important question on this list. The domain must be registered in your name, and on final payment you should receive the hosting login, website admin login and source code. Some vendors register the domain in their own name - which effectively makes your website hostage.
7. What exactly is included?
Ask for the list in writing. A professional website should include: mobile-first design, SSL (HTTPS), speed optimisation, on-page SEO (titles, meta descriptions, headings, image alt text), an XML sitemap, Google Search Console and Google Analytics setup, contact forms, and WhatsApp and call buttons. If any of these are "extra", factor that into your comparison.
8. Will the website be SEO-ready?
A website that Google cannot understand will not bring you customers. Ask whether they add LocalBusiness schema, connect your Google Business Profile, and submit the sitemap to Google on launch. Also ask how they protect your existing rankings if you are redesigning - the answer should mention 301 redirects.
9. How will they keep you updated?
Good companies share progress regularly - ideally through preview links you can open on your phone and a WhatsApp group with your project manager. Agree on this before starting.
10. What happens after launch?
Ask how long free support lasts and what maintenance costs afterwards. Websites need updates, backups and security monitoring - unmaintained websites are the most common target for hackers who inject spam or casino links. A reasonable company offers free bug fixes for a period after launch and a clear maintenance plan.
11. Is the payment structure fair?
A typical structure is an advance to start and the balance on approval before launch, with larger projects split into milestones. Avoid paying 100% upfront, and make sure invoices are GST-compliant.
12. Do they understand your business - or just websites?
The best web development companies ask about your customers, your competitors and how you make money before talking about colours and fonts. A website is a sales tool. If the first meeting is all about design and never about enquiries, keep looking.
